Counter-Strike 2 is the direct upgrade of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which released on September 27, 2023. Built on the Source 2 engine, the game also defaults to DirectX 11 on Windows but also supports Vulkan API. CS2 features a more modernized look while still being relatively lighter.
